I’m Michelle ~ have lived in Northern Nevada most of my life. We moved from Canyon Country, California to Washoe Valley, NV when I was 14. As much as I miss the ocean, I think it was a great move on my parents part. Love the high desert and the Sierra Nevada. I made the best of it ~ instead of going to Scripps Institute of Oceanography for Marine Archaelogy…I ended up at the University of Nevada and studied Historical Archaeology and Geology.
My husband and I live in an older Sparks house built in 1915 with our two cats, Leo-Monster (Mostly all Bengal) and Lucy. Max is buried near the herb garden. We bought the house in the fall of 2006 and I’m still working on that yard of ours…it’s big…there’s lots of grass…a whole crapola less of junipers though! Lots and lots of yard work.
I quilt, make cold process soap, soy candles, paint, play with seed beads (loom and flowers), photography, garden, watch birdies, walk in the desert & mountains, you name it…I like to dabble in it.
My Etsy site ~ SLEEPY CAT HOLLOW ETSY SHOP
Time to practise throwing pipis at seagulls too, isn’t it?
Uh-oh, Quilty got here first! But I’m following close behind and am very impressed that you have already blogrolled my little site. Welcome to the world of blogging!
Thank you Judah and Kiwi ~
LOL! I’m a very good aim…I practice on pigeons! Someday I will get down there and help you throw pipis at seagulls.
Do!
Meanwhile, I’ve blogrolled you too. But don’t blame me if you get some strange types coming your way. It will probably have far more to do with Plum’s and the Toadykin’s blogs.
Oh, and that knitting blog too… sure to be types into spinning yarns from over there!
Now when is Sharon going to turn up? I had better be going….
Hey, don’t laugh. It could be serious. She just might sock it to me.
Knit 1 Purl 1; blue ones, yellow ones (that sounds like bruising!); small ones, BIG ones … right, I’m outta here!
Hi from the Enchanted Garden on Mayberry and Sherwood. We have a beautiful Angelica in full bloom this year, every other year. Sure enjoyed your website, we are not really that sophisitcated. Just thought I would drop a line. Tim Elam
Hey!! You have a new look!! I like it!!
Yep…wanted a template that I can change the pictures up on top.
Hi, Michelle!!! Talked to your mother and she gave me your website. Are you still making candles? I love the one I bought when you mom was working at the little shop and loved it but it is about to die in the bathroom. I need another really nice one. I only burn soy candles and the one I like is oatmeal, milk & honey. Do you have any more? Hope so!! Norma
I stumbled across youre website this morning when i was looking for pumpkin patches What great pictures. I grew up in Empire right outside of Gerlach My Dad was the office manager at USG for 33 years. How was your trip? Your website is great, I have to leave right now , but i will be contcting about your candles Thanks Jenny!!!
Thank you Jenny! We always have a great time when we’re in the Gerlach area. Drop me a line anytime.
Just found your site. Have lived in Reno most of my life. Quilting is my passion. I feed birds, make wreaths, soap, anything I can do with my hands. Am 60+, but have lots of experience. Most groups are gone now, maybe I need to venture out more.
Good Day! Thanks for stopping by…
I’ve never been part of a quilting group, but am seriously thinking about it.
Are you the lady who makes the beautiful sugar easter eggs? Please let me know.
Hey there! I’m another Santa Clarita native that left the ‘burbs for the mountains. Haven’t looked back.
Digging your blog.
Nice to find another local blog…fun to read, too!
Hi! I might be a neighbor someday…I live in Orange County now, looking to retire in Northern Nevada in about 3 years…Have looked at Minden and Gardenerville so far. Next is Yerington…Any suggestions? I love to sew, make jam, quilt, garden, and craft. Will I fit in? Love your blog!
Hello soon to be neighbor!
All three are great places…Yerington is very small town, surrounded by great farming. I like it a lot…great little county fair, wonderful 4th of July fireworks. Minden/Gardnerville is nice too ~ close to Carson…I love the old houses on the west side of Carson. I like Washoe Valley (between Carson & Reno), that’s were I lived during high school…no to Fernley (sorry to any Fernley folks, but after living out there for 4 years, ACK!)
Yerington is out..Too little and different. We flew to Reno to see Chickenfoot concert in Tahoe and drove thru Yerington, Wellington, Smith, and onto Tahoe. Drove to Garderville on Sat. and like that the most. I guess I need more retail around me! Plus it’s down the hill from Lake Tahoe. Still in the discovering phase…
How funny! It was my husbands bday! Have you been to the Heyday Inn in Wellington? We went there for lunch- Very quaint and great food!
Just wanted to let you know I loved your sunflower pictures. You beautifully showed clear details of flowers from all angles and different detail levels. I was looking to paint some sunflowers and it is good to understand the way it grows and how it fits together….Thank you for Sharing….PS I have an ETSY website, too. Look up CraftFanatic there.
Hey I found your blog on Tasty Kitchen! I was so excited to find a Northern Nevadan! I grew up in Reno and have family all over the area. I now live in CO. Your blog is super cute. I was also wondering when you adopted your cat from the humane society?
I was just looking over your blog too ~
We adopted Lucy in the first part of June. She’s still under a year old. My Maxie (Russian Blue & Ragdoll) had just died in May.
Nice, My little sister works at the Humane Society… Maybe she is the one who adopted your cat to you? I am sorry about your other cat, I have a Ragdoll cat myself.
