FOR TODAY … 01 February 2012.

Outside My Window… Breezy, partly cloudy (had some rain and light snow), busy goings-on in the two construction holding pens, an empty bird feed swinging on the tree.

I am thinking… We really could use a nice big snow storm…the type where I get to stay home and quilt and make a big pot of stew or posole!

I am thankful for… the photography help I received from EarthSky facebookers…love how they shared their settings to take pictures of the moon. As soon as it’s not cloudy at night, I’ll give it a try!

From the kitchen… Chicken enchiladas. I made a couple of pans up last week, just pulled one from the freezer.

I am wearing… jeans, tennis shoes, a black mock turtleneck.

I am creating… I brought my hand-quilting projects to work with me today. The Farmer’s Wife blocks and the ever-ongoing Flower Garden hexies.

I am going… to have to head over to the Credit Union since they change routing and account numbers on all of us here in Nevada. I don’t write many checks, but need a few.

I am reading… I pulled down Norton: The Cat that went to Paris, only a few pages in.

I am hoping… FOR SNOW!

I am hearing… traffic, helicopter going over, stomping in the hallway upstairs, copier machine, a co-worker clearing his throat for the kabillionth time.

Around the house… laundry to be washed and dishes in the sink need washing too.

One of my favorite things… eyes that don’t itch and water…something that I wish mine would stop doing right now.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week… anxiously await my new tripod, head up to either Gerlach or Sierra Valley one weekend day, pay my Nevada Museum of Art membership dues.

UPDATE: From EARTHSKY today:

When you look at a crescent moon shortly after sunset or before sunrise, you can sometimes see not only the bright crescent of the moon, but also the rest of the moon as a dark disc. That pale glow on the unlit part of a crescent moon is light reflected from Earth. It’s called “earthshine.”

I am thinking… Why can’t it just snow here in Reno?! All that is dropping right now is big wet sloppy kisses…and I hate those, unless it’s from a doggie.

I am thankful…That we are getting precip, even if it isn’t plain ole snow.

In the kitchen…probably tri-tip tacos…leftover meat from last night’s bbq.

I am wearing…Jeans, black mock turtleneck, and tennis shoes.

I am creating…a quilt…Oh, Fransson’s quilt along.

I am going…to water my office plants.

I am wondering…why the change in this meme, thinking, pondering, wondering? Seems like an overkill. May go back to the original version.

I am reading…Finished up Sherlock Holmes’ House of Silk, will pull out a book tonight.

I am hoping…that this slushy stuff turns to 100% pure SNOW. And that the stupid Giants beat the even stupider Patriots. Stupid Niners.

I am looking forward to…SNOW.

I am learning…really I am!

Around the house…Bedding needs to be laundered. Bedroom needs vaccuming.

I am pondering…big sigh. It’s too early for all this pondering.
